One thing I get questions on all the time is my hair! Everyone wants to know what I do to it, how I keep it so long and healthy and what products I use… So after lots of asking (ok, begging), I’m finally spilling ALL of my hair secrets. I will say, part of it is just good genes, but I do have lots of things I do to make sure my hair is the healthiest it can be which is key to growing it so long!
The most important thing is having a healthy scalp and hair. You can use all the products you want, but if your hair isn’t healthy from the roots then you probably won’t see the results you are hoping for. A few things I do are making sure I am drinking plenty of water, I take a prenatal vitamin since I am breastfeeding (but any vitamin is good), and use a good shampoo and conditioner. I use Pantene Beautiful Lengths, but I also love Head & Shoulders Green Apple line. Anything that will nourish your scalp and prevent breakage is what you want to look for!
The less you wash and use heat on your hair, the better!
I realize for some, washing it once a week isn’t an option, but since I have a drier scalp I can get away with that. Go as long as you can between washing and use dry shampoo if necessary. As far as heat goes, I blow dry and straighten/curl my hair 1-2 times a week. Letting your hair air dry is always best, so wash it at night if you need to! I use this curling wand and a Chi Straightener.
Two things I swear by are Argan Oil and Coconut Oil! Y’all, this stuff is golden for your hair AND your skin!!! I put the coconut oil in my hair before I shower; just rub a quarter size amount or smaller on your hair depending on your length, but avoid your roots. Make sure you wash it all out or you’ll have some greasy hair. 😉 After you have showered and brushed your hair with a wet brush, rub a single drop of Argan Oil into your hands and then gently run it through your hair, again avoid your roots. I use this Argan Oil and this Coconut Oil.
Hope y’all enjoyed these tips and they help your beautiful hair! 🙂
