A huge thank you to Bookroo for sponsoring this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I started reading books to Jayce when he was just a couple of months old; he LOVES books and I enjoy the moments we spend together. Mostly because they are the only moments where he will actually sit still with me. 😉 Even before he knew what I was even saying, I would read to him, and there’s so much evidence that shows that it makes a huge difference in a little person’s development. Babies and toddlers can learn so much from their parents reading to them daily! One of my favorite ways to get him new books is Bookroo which is a monthly subscription for kid’s books.
You can choose to get 2 hard cover books or 3 board books in your subscription box; we chose to get the hard cover since they were for Jayce. You can even gift a subscription! We received Edmund Unravels and Catch that Cookie in our box. Jayce is in love with these books already and they might just be his favorites now!
There’s so many reasons why it’s important to read to babies and toddlers. Their brains develop so much in those first few years, and the more pictures they see and words they hear, the more connections they are making and the more they are learning!
It can also improve a child’s memory (Jayce has several books he can “read” all on his own!) and their attention span. Jayce used to not be able to sit still for a whole book, but now he will sit on the couch with me while we read ALL of his books!
Not to mention, the bonding time. It’s such a sweet, special time with my boys when they sit with me and we read books together. It makes me put down my phone, put chores on hold, and spend quiet time with them. It creates a great time for us where we are just focused on each other and I get to teach the boys and see them learn and experience new things.
